From security employee to executive manager
The 6 semester, part time bachelor degree programme “Polizeiliche Führung” in the Faculty of Security Management has been developed by the University of Applied Sciences Wiener Neustadt, (FHWN) together with the Academy of Internal Security of the Federal Ministry of the Interior. It is an internationally recognised bachelor degree programme which provides the basis for the “E1/ Offizierslaufbahn” (police officer career) and is also open to students from the private security sector. Taught by persons with long standing practical experience and sound theoretical knowledge and based on police intervention strategies and corresponding fundamental legal principles, students are taught leadership competency in respect to method as well as the correct handling of personnel. Integrative projects and police management exercises (plan games) support the reflective learning process by the cross-linking of acquired competences with management sciences.
Further emphases in this programme are put on the fields of Law, Operations and Leadership as well as Social Competences and Business Administration. During this special training, students will acquire the theoretical knowledge and skills for a career in the executive forces and private security services.
The applicants must have at least one of the following entry requirements:
• Austrian school leaving certificate or equivalent foreign maturity certificate or vocational school leaving certificate,
• university entrance examination with the required subjects German and English (modern foreign language 2) or
• at least three years of relevant professional qualifications in combination with
- the successful completion of a vocational high school or
- a certificate of apprenticeship
For Applicants with relevant professional qualification an additional examination English at the level of "modern foreign language 2" is prescribed for the purposes of the study authorization regulation.
